Agricultural Chemistry

The staff of the Department of Agricultural Chemistry and Food Science is included in the fields of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, and of Nutrition and Bromatology. The department provides teaching in the following degrees:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Chemistry Engineering
  • Enviromental Sciences
  • Food Sciences
  • Human Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Tourism (Economy Science Faculty)

At postgraduate level, the Department offers a Master degree in Agricultural Chemistry and New Feed, 60 ECTS organised into two thematic modules (New feeds and Agrosystems and Environments) and that can be continued in the Doctorate in Agricultural Chemistry (Excellence mention).

The main research groups are: Agricultural and Food Chemistry; Micronutrients in Agriculture; and Heavy metals and phytoremediation. Other research areas deal with ecological use of substrates in agriculture, and, effects of genetic characters of Vitis vinifera in quality.
