Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling (TCCM) play a key role in the development of modern chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, physics and material science.
This has motivated 47 European Universities with very active groups in this field to set a consortium and offer a joint Master, which has two main objectives:
Establish a European standard for Master training in Theroretical Chemistry
Promote the international mobility of Master students
The master has obtained the recognition of its quality by two independent European organizations.
The European Chemistry Thematic Network Association (ECTNA - http://ectn-assoc.cpe.fr/) has awarded the master with the Eurolabel Certificate (EM0701).
The European Commission has selected the master as Erasmus Mundus Master

Contents
The European Master on Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling is articulated in 120 ECTS credits and can be accessed by students having a Bachelor in Chemistry, in Physics in Material Science, or any other scientific studies.
The first year (60 ECTS) will be followed at student’s home University and is divided into an four weeks intensive course (January-February) on the basis of the Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling and other levelling, optional and language courses carried out at UAM.
The second year has a marked international character. It includes an intensive course equivalent to 30 ECTS (September) that will be delivered by the best specialists of the consortium and experts taken from third countries. The remaining 30 credits will be devoted to research activity. At least three months of this research activity will be carried out into another university of the consortium
The master ends with the defence of the Master Thesis at the home Institution and will entitle the student to bear a Master degree in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling.
Different grants are available to support the mobility during the two intensive courses (one months each) and during the three months research period abroad.
PHD studies
This master course is a compulsory requirement for those who desire to obtain the PhD degree in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling.
Erasmus Mundus Grants
European and non-European students can apply for Erasmuns Mundus scholarships to follow these Master studies. The scholarship includes, tuition fees, insurance, and a monthly payment of 500 € for European students or 1000 € for Third Country (not a Member State of the European Union neither the EEA-EFTA) students. An amount of 8000 € will be also granted to non-EU students for travel expenses.
