Resumen curriculum vitae
  • I graduated in Physics at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) in 1989. I earned my PhD at the same university in 1993 thanks to my theoretical work on electronic structure and transport properties of semiconductor quantum dots and various topics related to the integer and fractional quantum Hall effect (QHE). I continued my professional career as a postdoctoral researcher at the National Research Council (Canada), Indiana University (USA), and University of Kentucky (USA) where, among other topics, I explored more in depth the many-body physics of the fractional QHE in collaboration with Allan MacDonald and did fundamental work on vortex matter and mesoscopic superconductivity in collaboration with Andre Geim. I came back to Spain as an Associate Professor at the Universidad of Alicante (Spain), where I worked for almost 10 years. There I pioneered one of the first projects world-wide to compute quantum transport from first principles, resulting in a collection of codes currently distributed under the common denomination ANT (Atomistic NanoTransport). Since 2009 I work at the Department of Condensed Matter Physics (UAM). In 2014 I co-founded SIMUNE Atomistics, the first company in Spain that offers computational services for material science related industrial needs.
