Since the academic course 2010-2011, the Department of Theoretical Physics holds every year the “Paco Ynduráin” colloquia.
Paco was a professor in our Department who died a couple of years ago and one of his characteristics was his strive for scientific quality and interdisciplinarity, which are identity signals of our Department and its associated IFT (Instituto de Fisica Teórica).
These colloquia are indeed intended to be of very high quality and very general and non-technical, targeting all specialties of our Department and well beyond.
They take place about once a month and tend to be so broad in interest that, in addition to the members of our Department and IFT, they are usually attended by some scientists of other specialties and disciplines, such as solid state and applied physicists, chemists, biologists and others, and especially by the younger students including undergraduates.
The Department welcomes and encourages everybody interested to attend them.
