Cristina Salcedo González holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Modern Languages, Culture and Communication, and has a Master’s Degree in Literary and Cultural Studies in Great Britain and Anglophone countries from the Autonoma University of Madrid. Having been granted a Predoctoral Fellowship by the Autonoma University of Madrid (FPI-UAM), Cristina is currently working on her PhD Degree, which will revolve around the rewriting of the Persephone myth in the twenty-first century Anglo-American popular culture. Her academic interests are mainly centred on the reworking of classical myths in the (post)modern world, paying special attention to gender and sexual issues, as well as identity-formation processes. In this sense, she is interested in the poetic and political uses of classical myths in modernity, as well as in the creation of alternative myths that arise in response to paradigms established in antiquity.

Some of her publications in this regard include “Penelopean aesthetics in Fun Home: drawing queer potentialies” (Journal of Graphic Novels and Comics, 2019) and “La poesía Flash como un medio innovador para la transmisión de mitos clásicos: el caso de «After Persephone» de Ingrid Ankerson” (Nuevos horizontes de la literatura comparada. Comparatismo digital (SELGYC) 1, 2018).
