Facultad de Medicina

Library

The Library of Medicine was founded in the 1969-70 academic year and was the first building at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, to be used exclusively as a library.
The Library of Medicine is part of the Autónoma University’s Library and Archive service and its mission is to provide bibliographic and information services for teaching, learning and research.

Along these lines, the Library of Medicine is involved in the teaching aspect of the two Medicine and Nursing degree programmes.

The Library has a reading room with 350 reading posts and an open access section. The Library also has a Learning and Research Resource Centre (CRAI) and a group study room.

The Library is well connected with the libraries at the Cantoblanco campus via the book reservation service and the inter-campus loan system, through which it is possible to order books to take out between 24 and 48 hours in advance.

The large collection of electronic medicine and nursing magazines stands out at the Library, with more than 2800 full-text titles linked with the PubMed database.

All of the above demonstrates the Library of Medicine’s determination to adapt its services, resources and installations to meet the requirements of the European Higher Education Area.
