Year/Semester Programs

Study Abroad at UAM (SAM)

At the UAM you have the best of both worlds: you can take courses that were specially designed for incoming international students and direct enroll in a vast number of regular undergraduate courses.  This program is perfect for students of Spanish, Gap-year students and post-graduate students who wish to perfect their Spanish language and culture skills.

  • The signature of this program is its flexibility!
  • Earn 30 ECTS per semester
  • Stay for one or two semesters (Sept. – Dec. and/or Jan. – May)

Students take a mandatory Advanced Spanish language course and can design their own program, choosing DiLe courses and up to two regular UAM courses.  Please click on the brochure for more detailed information.

The minimum required proficiency level of Spanish is B1, however we recommend B2 especially for those students who also want to enroll in regular UAM courses.

Program fee: 2400.- Euros / semester

The intensive language course is a semester-long course and offers 20 – 25 hours of classroom time a week complimented by excursions to museums, local markets, nearby sights, theaters and other venues.

Students have the opportunity to use Spanish in real settings, and meet other Spanish university students at language exchange happenings or any of the numerous social events on campus.

Since culture is the cornerstone of Study Abroad at UAM, language is always taught through culture with an emphasis on intercultural development.
The intensive course is subdivided into 4 modules corresponding to language levels (CEFR) so that students can sign-up for the full duration of the program or the module that meets their needs.  Example: Module I takes students from A1.2/A2.1 to A2.2 and would run for the first 4 weeks of the semester.

Fees: 600.- Euros / module             2400.- Euros for the full program.

Please note: The intensive courses are NOT suitable for absolute beginners, students must have some prior knowledge of Spanish.
