The main topic of the congress is blow-up, and more generally the appearance of singularities in finite time in mathematical models of interest in mechanics, chemistry and other disciplines. One of the main centers of activity on this area is Japan. A significant number of participants in this conference will come from this country. The rest will be mainly european citizens. The first edition of this workshop took place in Bratislava (Slovakia) in September 2004.

This workshop is a satellite conference of the International Congress of Mathematicians (Madrid, 22-30 August 2006).
