XXXIX. Neuromonitoring Procedures

       A. EEG Monitoring with the EEGle

            1. Check the remaining storage time. Enter Pt.
ID number. Delete 000 to get more time.

            2. Set acquisition. Enter the acquisition
menu through the button in the uper left
hand corner of the screen. Set the maximum
frequency to 20 HZ, the interval to 6 sec.
               and the autoimpedance to off.

            3. Set the montage. Leave impedance testing
on while plugging the leads in. Don't
forget to turn off the later as it causes
               massive noise for the neurophysiologist.

            4. Plug the wires into the box. Don't forget
               the ground.

            5. Look at the raw EEG signal through the DSA
setup. Check the impedance. It should be
less than 15,000. Check the gain. Set the
gain so than an acceptable number of
               waveforms create an artifact message.
Normally this will be a gain of about 200
microvolts pp. Turn off the highlight on
each channel so that the gain is not
               accidentally changed.

            6. Adjust the DSA size by looking at the
               histogram.

            7. Printer: Check the ink reservoir. Line
feed to the crease on the paper and then
set TOF by the Aa button.
