XXIII. Posterior Fossa

       A. Acoustic Neuromas

            1. Use succinylcholine (sux) because EMG's will
require a working neuromuscular junction, and
sux is short acting. Median nerve monitored
	       because of ? Sitting position?

       B. Retromastoid craniectomy

            1. No paralysis when performed for hemifacial
               spasm.

            2. No paralysis for a re-do trigemminal
               decompression?

            3. To insure no movement when doing a no-muscle-
relaxant case, the Forane can be run at 1%
and the B/P supported with a Phenylepherine
	       (Neo) infusion if needed.

            4. Usually Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potentials
(BAEP's) are usually only done on RMC's so there
is no need to worry about Somatosennsory Evoked
	       Potentials (SEP's) and Forane.

            5. Hyperventilate the patient when the retractor
               goes in.
