PERSONAL DETAILS

Place of birth: Madrid, Span

Date of birth: 6th June 1979

EDUCATION:

1997                   I finished High School at I.B. Camilo José Cela, in Pozuelo de Alarcón, my home town in the suburbs of Madrid. That very same year I started my undergraduate studies at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM)

2000-2001          I stayed for the academic year 2000-2001 at Boston University (BU), where I took several Physics courses.

·        During my stay at BU, I collaborated as an undergraduate student, for four months, in the Picosecond Spectroscopy and Near Field Microscopy Labs in Photonics Center (Boston University) under the supervision of Prof. Anna Swan. I must thank her for introducing me to the thrilling world of condensed matter.

·        I also worked as a peer tutor at the University Resource Center (BU) where I shared my limited skills in the Spanish language with Boston University students.

2002-2003          I received a fellowship to collaborate in the Ultrafast Spectroscopy Lab at Departamento de Física de Materiales (UAM) under the supervision of Prof. Luis Viña. There I worked on the setting up of a Hamamatsu Streak Camera (5ps time resolution) and performed some studies on the transient dynamics of the excitonic luminescence of GaAs/AlAs multiple quantum wells.

2003                   In July, I finally graduated at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in Ciencias Físicas (Óptica y Estructura de la Materia).

2003-present      Right after graduation I started my PhD. studies at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. I am now taking PhD courses and my research is centered, within the framework of Prof. Viña’s group, on carrier dynamics and collective phenomena in bulk semiconductors (yes, we’re back to bulk) such as CdTe and AlxGa1-xAs. I’m also a proud member of SEMICUAM.
