First report on bird remains from Buldir
Island, Aleutian Islands, Alaska

ABSTRACT: The bird remains of two test pits excavated on the Buldir Island midden are studied. The species identified are mostly marine, the Alcidae being the most numerous. The incoherencies between the zooarchaeological spectrum and the present avifauna are discussed, by taking into account such parameters as the accesibility of the colonies and the body-weight of the different species.
