Localization
Morocco is in the North Western part of Africa. It is bounded on the north by the Strait of Gibraltar and the Mediterranean sea, on the East and Southeast by Algeria, on the South by Mauritania, and on the West by the Atlantic Ocean. Within Morocco are the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla, on the Mediterranean coast. Canarians islands off the northern coast of Morocco are also possessions of Spain.

Climate
Morocco is dominated by the Mediterranean climate. It's temperate by the influence of the Atlantic Ocean in the northern and southern parts of the country. In the center the climate is continental with significant temperature differences. The Atlas region is moist with frequent snow falls. In the South, it's the desert climate.

Relief
Mostly mountains with rich coastal plains. Morocco has the broadest plains and the highest mountains in North Africa and has four different physiographic areas as follow:
  • Er Rif: An area of highlands, paralleling the Mediterranean coast.
  • Atlas Mountains: Located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Er Rif, separated by the Taza Depression and extending across the country in a southwestern to northeastern direction
  • Taza Depression: An area of broad coastal plains along the Atlantic Ocean
  • The plains and valleys: Located south of the Atlas Mountains, which merge with the Sahara along the southeastern borders of the country
