Localization
|
Morocco
is in the North Western part of Africa. It is bounded on the north by the
Strait of Gibraltar and the Mediterranean sea, on the East and Southeast
by Algeria, on the South by Mauritania, and on the West by the Atlantic
Ocean. Within Morocco are the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla, on
the Mediterranean coast. Canarians islands off the northern coast of Morocco
are also possessions of Spain. |

Climate
|
Morocco is
dominated by the Mediterranean climate. It's temperate by the influence
of the Atlantic Ocean in the northern and southern parts of the country.
In the center the climate is continental with significant temperature differences.
The Atlas region is moist with frequent snow falls. In the South, it's
the desert climate.

Relief
|
Mostly mountains
with rich coastal plains. Morocco has the broadest plains and the highest
mountains in North Africa and has four different physiographic areas as
follow:

Er Rif:
An area of highlands, paralleling the Mediterranean coast.

Atlas Mountains:
Located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Er Rif, separated by the Taza
Depression and extending across the country in a southwestern to northeastern
direction

Taza Depression:
An area of broad coastal plains along the Atlantic Ocean

The plains
and valleys: Located south of the Atlas Mountains, which merge with
the Sahara along the southeastern borders of the country
