On 16 and 17 March, the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid held its sixth Jobs Forum, which took place at the faculties of Business and Economic Sciences, Law, Science and at the Escuela Politécnica Superior (Superior Polytechnic School), located on the Cantoblanco campus. Over seventy organisations participated in the event, whose unique feature was the Universidad Autónoma being named as International Campus of Excellence.
The primary objective of the UAM Jobs Forum is to serve as a meeting point between companies and students. Institutions come to the university in search of highly qualified individuals who match the required profiles. Students, meanwhile, can access various job opportunities at their place of study which will enable their entry into the world of work.
Attendees of the VI UAM Jobs Forum were able to establish contact with 70 firms -among the most prestigious from the business world-, who outlined their plans for growth, in which sustainability and innovation take centre stage.. The event combined the general and multi-sector forums, which obliged students to visit all four venues, since companies are looking for very diverse academic profiles. The job opportunities and in-company placements offered by the majority of participating companies are open, comprehensive and multi-disciplinary.
Company HR managers participated in the Forum and a host of activities were organised for the event, such as selection processes, working breakfasts, seminars, etc. This Forum was open to all graduates from other universities wishing to attend.
Two factors aligned for this year's event: the economic situation, on the one hand, which made this Forum all the more necessary, and the recent announcement of the UAM+CSIC proposal as International Campus of Excellence, which will open up new training opportunities for students of the Autónoma de Madrid.
The Universidad Autónoma de Madrid is committed to the value of training its students as human capital, equipped to develop their knowledge within and incorporate themselves into the working environment. Alongside other projects designed with this in mind, the UAM's Jobs Forum has reinforced its graduates' route into the labour market, facilitating contact with the important companies and institutions with which the university has close connections.
