Formative Period
The training period of the Doctorate Programme in Economics and Business is made up of official master's degrees in the field of economics and business, such as those taught at the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences of the UAM.

Investigation Period
The research period will consist of the development of an original research work in some area of the field of Economics and Business, which requires a research tutor.
The director of the doctoral thesis must be a member of the Teaching and Research Staff of the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences of the UAM with accredited research experience. If the Director of the Doctoral Thesis does not belong to the Faculty, the student must have a tutor, who may be a faculty professor with accredited research experience.
There are five main lines of research in the Doctoral Programme in Economics and Business that the doctoral thesis can be included in:
Doctoral students may participate in courses, conferences, seminars and workshops organised by the Academic Doctoral Commission and therefore included in the Plan of Activities of the Doctoral Programme in Economics and Business or by centres and groups where the student is carrying out his or her research work. Doctoral students must take into account the UAM Guide to Good Research Practices in the performance of their academic activity.
From the second year after admission to the Doctoral Programme in Economics and Business, the student may be required by his tutor to publicly present an advance of his research work, of which he must make a public presentation in the form of a seminar, before in any case the final reading before the jury.
