Administrative Information
Accession and admission to doctoral studies is regulated in articles 6 and 7 of Royal Decree 99/2011 of 28 January, which regulate official doctoral studies, as well as articles 8 and 9 of the Official Doctoral Teaching Regulations of the UAM, will apply.
Accession requirements
1. For access to an official doctoral programme, it will be necessary to hold an Spanish Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and Official Master's Degree.
2. Those who are in one of the following situations may also apply:
a) Hold an official Spanish university degree (or another EHEA member country) that qualifies for access to the master's degree in accordance with the provisions of RD 1393/2007 of 29 October and have passed a minimum of 300 ECTS in all official university studies, of which at least 60 ECTS must be at master's level.
b) Hold an official Spanish Graduate university degree whose duration, in accordance with Community law, is at least 300 ECTS. In this case, unless the syllabus of the corresponding degree includes research training credits, they must take the training complements equivalent in formative value to the research credits from master's degree studies.
c) University graduates who have passed with a positive evaluation at least two years of training in a programme to obtain the official degree in one of the specialities in Health Sciences.
d) Hold an official degree obtained in accordance with foreign educational systems, without the need for homologation, provided that they accredit a level of training equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university master's degree and that they provide, in the country of origin, access to doctoral studies. This admission does not imply, in any case, the homologation of the foreign degree held by the doctoral candidate or its recognition for purposes other than access to doctoral studies.
e) Hold the Diploma of Advanced Studies obtained in accordance with the provisions of RD 778/98, of 30 April, or have reached Research Sufficiency as regulated by RD 185/85, of 23 January.
f) Hold another Spanish doctoral degree obtained in accordance with previous university regulations.
Admission profile
Admission to the Doctorate Programme in Economics and Business requires the student to have knowledge of Economics or Business Administration equivalent to postgraduate studies, as well as skills in understanding the economic-business and social environment, analysis of quantitative and qualitative information, oral and written expression and communication in Spanish and English.
Recommended profile: Those with an official master's degree in Economics or Business, or at least 60 ECTS in the case of longer official master's degrees in the same field of knowledge.
Other profiles: Those contemplated in RD 99/2011, of 28 January, provided that the study plans include knowledge of Economics or Business equivalent to postgraduate studies.
Admission Criteria
Students accomplishing the above requirements and have completed 60 ECTS in official master's degree studies in the fields of Economics or Business will be admitted to the research period, provided they exceed 15 out of a possible 20 points according to the following merit rating criteria:
The academic committee that will carry out the Admission process is the Academic Committee of the Doctorate Programme in Economics and Business, which will individually study each application submitted and resolve according to the principles of transparency.
