European Doctoral Day
On May 13, 2026, the Autonomous University of Madrid will join in the celebration of European Doctoral Day, an event dedicated to recognizing the value of doctoral education and the essential contribution of doctoral candidates and PhD holders to the advancement of knowledge, innovation, and social development. This day highlights the strategic role of the doctorate as a driver of scientific, economic, and cultural progress, and as a cornerstone for addressing the major challenges of contemporary society.
The commemorative event will begin with an official opening ceremony led by academic authorities, followed by the awarding of diplomas to the winners of the 2025 Doctoral School Short Story Contest. It will be continued with the graduation ceremony for the new doctoral graduates of the 2024–2025 academic year, followed by the awarding of the diplomas for the 2023/24 Extraordinary Doctoral Prize. The ceremony will conclude with a speech given by one of the doctors honored with the Extraordinary Doctoral Prize, on behalf of the recent graduates in the doctoral community.
The graduation ceremony will consist of the presentation to each new doctoral graduate of the doctoral hood distinctive to their graduating course, as a present from the EDUAM.
The doctoral hood and diplomas will be awarded solely and exclusively to those who attend the ceremony in person.
If unable to attend the event, the doctoral candidate or an authorized representative may retrieve the doctoral hood /diploma at any later time at the Doctoral School.

Date and time: May 13, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Location: Auditorium of the Superior Polytechnic School (EPS) at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Cantoblanco Campus, 11 Francisco Tomás y Valiente St.
Event aimed at:
- Doctoral students who won the EDUAM 2025 Short Story Contest.
- UAM Doctoral graduates during the 2024/25 academic year.
- UAM Doctoral graduates who won the Extraordinary Doctoral Award for the 2023/24 academic year.
To attend the event, it is mandatory to register using the form sent via email to those for whom the event is intended.
Guests: the auditorium capacity limits the number of guests to two per person. However, if the venue is not at full capacity and more guests arrive, they may be admitted until the venue is full.
Dress code: NOT necessary to wear doctoral academic regalia to attend the ceremony. There is no specific protocol regarding this; however, formal attire is recommended.
