Postdoctoral position. Network INVISIBLES

Title of the project: Neutrinos and the dark sectors.

Job description: 

This is a 2 year position at the Department of Theoretical Physics UAM (Univ. Autónoma de Madrid) www.ft.uam.es,  and/or IFT www.ift.uam.es, with starting date in the fall of 2013. It is intended to be a first step into postdoctoral research ("fresh postdoc") and will be funded by the Marie Curie ITN Invisibles (Early Stage Researcher of the FP7 EU program). The position is offered to carry research in phenomenology of particle physics, within the FP7 Marie Curie ITN INVISIBLES. All nodes of the network, European and non-European ones, will contribute to the training, and the research effort will focus on collaborations through the network. The position include stays in at least another European node plus stays in our associated nodes: at least at one major world laboratory and at one of our private sector partners. Yearly meetings of the complete network are foreseen. The young scientist will take part in the network activities, such as yearly meetings and training events. The successful candidates will have an excellent academic record in physics in undergraduate and postgraduate studies and a clear record of achievement in particle physics, or related areas, with research accomplished at the highest level, revealed through published papers in leading science journals and/or international conference/workshop presentations. He/she will have a keen interest in pursuing research in particle physics, and in particular in neutrino and/or dark matter physics. The candidate will also have good interpersonal and communication skills, and will have shown ability to work effectively in teams.

Eligible candidates may be of any nationality, but they must be at the time of recruitment (that is, towards the end 2012/beginning 2013) in the first four years of their research careers and have not yet been awarded a PhD degree. This time is measured from the date when they obtained the degree which would formally entitle them to embark on a doctorate, either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in the country in which the research training is provided. At the time of recruitment by the host organisation, the candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc) in the country of their host organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the reference date. Short stays such as holidays and/or compulsory national service are not taken into account.

The gross salary is 38000 euro/year (multiplied by the EU correction coefficient for Spain), plus a monthly mobility allowance in the range 700-1000 euros depending on the family status. More information at www.invisibles.eu
