Fluorescence Imaging Group (FIG)

We use different nanoparticles (NPs) to detect renal damage in different pathological scenarios, by purely optical, non invasive, methods.

• Optical trapping of cells. Optical forces can achieve single-cell manipulation for future investigations on the fluorescent properties of living cells as well as to elucidate the effect that tightly focused laser beams have on cell health.
• Nanothermometry: NPs, as multifunctional fluorescent nano-thermometers, are capable of simultaneously generating intracellular imaging, as well as acting as thermal indicators.
