Internal Quality Management System Manuals

The Internal Quality Management System manuals for each undergraduate degree and the postgraduate manual describe the different procedures to be followed to gather and evaluate the relevant data and information and draw up improvement proposals with the aim of guaranteeing the quality of the procedures of each of the degree programmes in question.

The manuals have the same layout and are structured around five central concepts (coded as “E”), each of which groups together a different number of procedures organized in files (coded as “F”).

Each degree programme has its own specific work file, although all of the files have the same basis.

The manual files identify each of the following components of the internal quality management system, along with the general content and objectives of the same:

E1 – Units responsible for the centre’s Quality Management System.

  • The aim of this document is to outline the structure of the governing body of the Internal Quality Management System of the Faculty of Medicine, in accordance with the requirements laid out to this effect, as well as its operating standards and the stakeholders’ participation in the same (academic directors, students, teaching and research staff in training, administration and services staff and company).

E2 – Procedures for the assessment and improvement of teaching quality, human resources and materials.

  • Details the procedures for gathering and analysing relevant information relating to teaching quality for the degree programmes taught at the Faculty of Medicine.
  • Details the procedures for assessing the results of the teaching/learning programme with regards to the fulfilment of objectives and standards set, measured using their corresponding indicators.
  • How the information obtained from the results is used is regulated, so that its role in achieving the objectives of the Study Plan is monitored and can be worked on.

E3 – Procedures for guaranteeing quality in external work experience and in research mobility programmes.

  • The aim of the document is to define the procedure for gathering and analysing information on external work experience and mobility programmes.
  • It describes the procedure for using the information obtained from the results of external work experience to improve how the objectives of the Study Plans are achieved.
  • It explains how information relating to students in national and international mobility programmes is gathered and assessed, in order to evaluate its contribution to the goals of the training programme.
  • How the information obtained on mobility programmes is used is regulated, so that its role in achieving the objectives of the Study Plan is monitored and can be worked on.

E4 – Procedures for analysing graduate employability and satisfaction with the training received.

  • This file deals with gathering and analysing information related to the employability of university graduates.
  • It describes how to specify the use that will be given to information gathered on the employability of graduates.
  • It details the procedures for identifying and analysing student and graduate satisfaction with each degree programme with regards to the training received.
  • It specifies the way in which information on satisfaction with training will be used to revise and improve study plans.

E5 – Procedures for analysing the levels of satisfaction of the different groups involved.

  • Describe the procedure used to identify and analyse the levels of satisfaction of the different groups linked to each degree programmes with regards to their various components.
  • Specify the way in which information on the satisfaction of the groups involved will be used to revise and improve study plans.
  • It details the procedure used to deal with suggestions for improvement and complaints made relating to different degree programmes, so that the quality levels set for each programme are reached.
  • It explains the way in which information on suggestions or complaints received from students will be used to revise and improve study plans.
  • It specifies the way in which the Faculty of Medicine at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, makes updated information on the degree programmes it offers publicly available so that its stakeholders are kept informed.
  • It details the criteria and specific procedures followed for the possible discontinuation of a degree programme.
