Interdepartmental Investigation Service (SIdI)

The Interdepartmental Investigation Service (SIdI) of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Autonomous University of Madrid) encompasses a total of 21 laboratories whose mission is to provide scientific technical assistance and services to public and private organizations which request this.

Researchers continue to request new techniques and instruments which allow them to continue being competitive in their corresponding fields of research. The high costs of acquisition, maintenance and staff for these infrastructures, which are hardly unaffordable for research groups, have caused the centralization of scientific equipment in centers such as the SIdI, one of the national pioneers, to be the tendency at Spanish universities in recent years.
Aware of the needs of our users to be able to depend on the maximum quality of the products and services offered by the SIdI, in 2005 a Quality Management System (QMS) was implemented in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO 9001 standard for the activities of design, development and execution of chemical and physical assays in the different laboratories of the center. The implementation of a Quality Management System has permitted the extraordinarily efficient standardization of scientific, technical and administrative procedures for work carried out in the SIdI.
Currently, the SIdI is made up of 21 laboratories, organized in 8 units which group together similar technical principles or fields of application.
