Erik Gómez-Baggethun, PhD in Ecology and the Environment was a founding member of the Social-Ecological Systems Laboratory. At present he is a senior researcher at the Autonomous University of Barcelona Senior Vising Associate at the University of Oxford. His research covers a variety of topics in ecological economics and global environmental change, fields in which he has produced about fifty scientific publications. He participated in the initiatives ‘The economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity’ (TEEB) and ‘Cities and biodiversity Outlook’ (CBO1) and is part of an expert task force of the Inter-Governmental Panel for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). He serves as vice President of the European Society for Ecological Economics and as national coordinator of the European Commission COST action on Urban Allotment Gardens in European Cities. He also serves in the editorial board of several international journals on biodiversity, ecosystem services and sustainability sciences.
