Oferta de tesis doctorales en el sincrotrón de ALBA (Barcelona)

ALBA is offering two PhD positions at the Accelerator Division to develop his doctoral thesis in the field of accelerator science and technology.

Project:

1) CLIC_RF

Studies, simulations and measurements of the interaction of the beam with the radiofrequency cavities (beam loading) and investigation of active compensation techniques.

The PhD will be integrated in the RF Group of the ALBA Accelerators Division and will actively collaborate with the partner of the project: CERN.

The project is structured in four phases:
                    - Theoretical studies of the interaction of the electron with the RF cavities (beam loading)
                    - Simulations of the beam loading at ALBA and at CLIC Damping Ring
                    - Beam loading measurements with the ALBA SR
                    - Investigation of beam loading active compensation techniques

2) FCC_HTS

Radiofrequency (RF) characterization of Coated High Temperature Superconductors (CHTS) tapes to determine its suitability as material for reducing the cryogenic vacuum chamber impedance of accelerators.

The PhD will be integrated in the ALBA Accelerators Division and will actively collaborate with the partners of the project: ICMAB, IFAE and CERN.

The project is structured in following phases:

                    - Investigation of RF measuring techniques applicable to Coated High Temperature
                      Superconductors (CHTS), including electromagnetic simulations.
                    - Implementation of a RF measuring system for a small bore 9 T magnet
                    - Implementation of a RF measuring system compatible to be irradiated with synchrotron radiation.
                    - At the different setups, performing the measurements of different types of CHTS and its characterization under diverse conditions.

Fecha límite para solicitar (deadline): 31/01/2017
