Breve Biografía:

Guillermo Cordero es Profesor de Ciencia Política (titular acreditado) y Vicedecano de Investigación de la Facultad de Derecho en la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Anteriormente fue profesor e investigador postdoctoral en la Universitat Pompeu Fabra, así como investigador predoctoral en el antiguo Centro de Estudios Avanzados en Ciencias Sociales (CEACS) de la Fundación Juan March. Ha sido visiting fellow en la Universidad de Michigan, la Universidad de Essex, la Universidad de Montreal y la Universidad de California, Berkeley.

Guillermo Cordero es Investigador Principal del proyecto “¿Ayuntamientos plurales? La representación política de los inmigrantes en España”, financiado por el Ministerio de Economía (www.candidatoslocales.es). También es el Coordinador del Grupo de Investigación sobre Élites y Actores Políticos (GIEAP).

Sus principales líneas de investigación son el comportamiento electoral, la participación política de los inmigrantes y el estudio de la selección y el reclutamiento de élites políticas en Europa, habiendo publicado sus trabajos más recientes en estos temas en revistas internacionales como Acta Politica, American Behavioral Scientist, Canadian Journal of Political Science, Parliamentary Affairs, South European Society y West European Politics.

Sus libros más recientes son “Democratizing Candidate Selection: New Methods, Old Receipts?” (Palgrave, 2018, coeditado con Xavier Coller) y “Democratizing Candidate Selection: New Methods, Old Receipts?” (Routledge, 2018, coeditado con Xavier Coller y Antonio Jaime-Castillo).

Short Bio:

Guillermo Cordero is Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations and Vice-Dean of Research of the Faculty of Law at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Previously he held postdoctoral teaching and research positions at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona and pre-doctoral research positions at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (CEACS, Juan March Institute) in Madrid.

He has been research fellow at the University of Essex, the University of Michigan, the University of Montreal and the University of Berkeley. He holds a PhD in Political Science (2012) as well as a MA in Democracy and Government (2009).

Currently, he is the principal investigator of the project “¿Ayuntamientos plurales? La representación política de los inmigrantes en España” on the political representation of immigrants in Spain, financed by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. He is also the Coordinator of the Research Group “Actores y Élites Políticas”.

His academic publications include diverse books, chapters and journal articles; he is the author or co-author of papers published in peer-reviewed journals such as Acta Politica, American Behavioral Scientist, Government & Opposition., Parliamentary Affairs, South European Society & Politics  and  West European Politics, among others. 

He has recently edited the books "Democratizing Candidate Selection in Times of Crisis: New Methods, Old Receipts?" (Palgrave, 2018) and "The Selection of Politicians in Times of Crisis" (Routledge, 2018).
