Admission and enrollment

Information regarding the admission procedure can be obtained from this website or sending an email to the Centre of Postgraduate Studies (Centro de Estudios de Posgrado) of Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (email:  posgrado.oficial@uam.es).

Master’s fees:

As a guideline, in the academic year 2022-2023, the ordinary fee of the master was 2,701.20 euros for students from the European Union or residents in Spain (45.02 euros per ECTS credit) and 5,044.20 euros for other students (84.07 euros per ECTS credit), not including administrative fees, medical insurance etc. Please note, however, that this information is provided with no guarantee. The complete and detailed information on the official master fees of the UAM can be found here.

Admission requirements:

  • Background knowledge: The Master in Quantitative Economic Analysis is open to students of different academic backgrounds. Applicants must hold a degree in Economics, Business Administration, Economics and Finance or other related degrees with a solid grounding in Economic Theory, Econometrics and Mathematics, or a degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or Engineering.
  • English level: Applicants must have at least a B2 level in English (recognized in the new Common European Framework for Languages) or equivalent. The table of equivalences used between the different types of certificates admitted is available here.

Note: Although all teaching is in English, the administrative procedures at the UAM are in Spanish and, therefore, at least a B1 level of Spanish is required.

Among those students that meet the above requirements, the Master's Academic Commission will assess (the weighting of each item is indicated in brackets):

  • Academic record, especially the number of subjects passed with economic and/or quantitative content and the grade obtained (60%).
  • Level of English (20%).
  • Complementary training and/or professional experience in the required degrees (20%).

The Academic Committee will also consider personal interviews in the cases it considers appropriate.

In addition, the Master's Academic may establish levevling courses. These courses are designed to acquire the minimum skills needed to take the Master's degree courses and/or to reinforce students’ knowledge on certain subjects.  Leveling courses are not included in the curriculum of the Program and will be given in the weeks prior to the start of the course.

Mandatory documentation to be provided by the applicant:

  • Academic transcript of grades for undergraduate studies. This certificate must be translated if it is not in Spanish or English.
  • Declaration of average grade (compulsory for students who do not belong to UAM). In the case of applicants with foreign qualifications, this can only be accredited with the official certificate of equivalence of average grades issued by the Spanish Ministerio de Educación y Formación Profesional.
  • Official certificate of at least B2 level in English (recognized in the new Common European Framework for Languages) or equivalent. An affidavit will not be valid.
  • Curriculum Vitae, indicating the additional training and/or professional experience in the required degrees.
