Jesús Avila is Professor and former Director of the Center of Molecular Biology “Severo Ochoa” (CBMSO, UAM-CSIC) and is Scientific Director of the Center for Networked Biomedical Research on Neurodegenerative Diseases (CIBERNED, ISCiii) Madrid, Spain. He has been working on neuronal cytoskeleton for the last thirty year. Now he studies the role of the microtubule associated protein tau in neurodegenerative disorders such as tauopathies and Alzheimer´s disease. Professor Ávila is an elected member of different Organizations like EMBO, European Academy, and the Spanish Royal Academy of Sciences; he is member of different Editorial Boards and has more than 300 publications most of them related with Alzheimer´s disease. His research interest includes to investigate the role of neuronal cytoskeleton and tau protein in neurodegenerative disorders: tauopathies and Alzheimer´s disease.
