PhD Training Activities

Writing of scientific papers

The development of activity is variable but is expected from the doctoral candidates since their second year in the Programme.

Doctoral candidates will actively participate in the writing of manuscripts derived from their research to be published in scientific journals related to the research area. A relevant part of the doctoral candidate training is to acquire skills such as writing manuscripts in English, searching and selecting relevant scientific information from different datebases and conveying results in a synthetic and clear manner.

The doctoral candidates are also expected to get familiar with the procedures required for biomedical publication, including ethics consents and general rules for international publications. Moreover, they should get to know the relevant steps for preparing a biomedical publication, including contacting editors, answering queries by the reviewers, or revising galley proofs.

Activity accreditation

The Thesis Supervisor will provide a written report about the participation of the student in research papers actively. Information about the paper and the student contribution must be clearly stated. This report, also signed by the Tutor, must be attached to the Training Activities Document (Documento de Actividades del Doctorando) to be uploaded in SIGMA.
