Training complements

PhD Programme in Pharmacology and Physiology

The Academic Committee of the PhD program in Pharmacology and Physiology may require specific training complements, up to 20 ECTS in the flowing circumstances:

  1. Up to 10 ECTS in the area of knowledge of Pharmacology and Physiology when the academic background of the student is not sufficient for the requirements of the PhD Program. These specific training complements will be obtained preferentially by attending the courses “Interaction drug-organism”, “Physiological Basis for Therapeutics”, and “Pharmacology of Organs and Systems”, of the general module of the Master´s Degree in Pharmacological Research organized by the Department of Pharmacology at UAM. These training complements will be preferentially suggested for students that did not attend Pharmacology courses in their previous degrees (Graduate, Master or other official postgraduate training that gives access to the PhD).
  2. Up to 10 ECTS in the area of knowledge of experimental methodology in Pharmacology and Physiology research when the academic background of the student is not sufficient for the requirements of the PhD Program. These specific training complements will be obtained preferentially by attending the courses “Communication and Scientific Documentation/Data process and analysis”, “Methodology for Clinical Trials”, and “Experimental Techniques in Pharmacological Research”, of the general module of the Master´s Degree in Pharmacological Research organized by the Department of Pharmacology at UAM. These training complements will be preferentially suggested for students that did not attend Pharmacology courses in their previous degrees (Graduate, Master or other official postgraduate training that gives access to the PhD).

Those students who accredit a training period in the Postgraduate official programs at the Department of Pharmacology at UAM (Diploma of Advanced Studies or University Master in Pharmacological research), will be exempt of taking training complements.

The nature and extension of the possible training complements required for PhD candidates that do not fulfil the academic background required for the PhD program in Pharmacology and Physiology, will be decided by the Academic Committee after reviewing the documents provided by the applicant.
