Monitoring of the Internships: the professional tutor

Monitoring of the internships and specific functions of the Professional Tutor

Monitoring of the Internships
Students who do internships in companies are advised academically and professionally by two tutors who evaluate how well they perform their activities and assign them a final grade for the internship.

The Professional Tutor is a qualified employee designated by the company in which the internship is performed. The Professional Tutor is named explicitly in the Appendix to the Collaboration Agreement for Educational Cooperation signed between the company and the Faculty. The Professional Tutor is responsible for supervising the work performed by the student during the internship period.

The Academic Tutor is a professor from the Faculty (for the Tourism Internship, he or she may be from another Faculty in the University) who is assigned individually to each student at the beginning of his or her internship.

Specific functions of the Professional Tutor
The Professional Tutor is responsible for seeing that the student performs the tasks described in the Appendix to the Collaboration Agreement. The Professional Tutor will communicate his or her opinion to the Academic Tutor in the course of the internship and will complete an Evaluation Form at the end of the internship period.

The specific functions of the Professional Tutor are, therefore, the following:

  • To determine the student’s work plan as to activities, dates and hours of the internship, the departments in which the internship will be performed, etc.
  • To help the student become integrated in the company and adapt to it.
  • To supervise the attendance, attitude, participation and performance of the student.
  • To advise and provide technical support to the student as he or she performs the internship.
  • To monitor the development of the student’s internship and maintain regular contact with the Academic Tutor.
  • To inform the Academic Tutor of any incident that occurs in the course of the internship.
  • To complete an Evaluation Form that evaluates various issues related to the internship that the student performs.
