Currículum Vitae
Dr. Emilia Aiello-Cabrera is a Ramón y Cajal Research Fellow in the Department of Sociology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). Between 2019 and 2022, she was an EU Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at both the Harvard Kennedy School of Government (Ash Center) and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB, Sociology Department).Dr. Aiello-Cabrera earned her BA in Political Science, a Master’s degree in Labor and Social Policy, and a PhD in Sociology (2016), all from UAB. She is also a research affiliate with the Group of Ethnic Studies and Migration (GEDIME) at UAB. Her academic experience includes visiting researcher positions at the Harvard Kennedy School (2014) and the Department of Sociology at Oxford University (2016).Her research interests center on how the most vulnerable social groups mobilize and organize at the grassroots level to combat inequalities. Additionally, Dr. Aiello-Cabrera is deeply committed to exploring how to maximize the societal impact of scientific research by better aligning scientific endeavors with societal needs.Her work has been published in leading journals, including International Sociology, PLOS ONE, Evidence & Policy, Qualitative Inquiry, International Journal of Qualitative Methods, among others.Dr. Aiello-Cabrera served as Co-Editor of “Papers: Revista de Sociología” (Department of Sociology, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, 2022–2023). She is currently a member of the Editorial Board of “Humanities and Social Sciences Communications” (Sociology section, Springer Nature, 2023–present) and “PLOS ONE” (Sociology section, 2024–present).
