Lines of research

The UAM is a leading research centre at Spanish and international levels. The UAM Law Faculty excels in this field by virtue of its researchers’ outstanding CVs, the importance of their published works, the large number of research projects granted and as a venue for Congresses on far-reaching issues within its respective areas of knowledge.

Research is one of the essential and most promoted aspects in our Faculty. The UAM Law Faculty is a leading Spanish and international research centre, as demonstrated by numerous quality indicators: number of funded projects and amount of funding, publications, grants and, in general, the qualification of its teaching staff reflected in the number of recognised six-year periods of research, research prizes, etc.

Research results

The Law Faculty has two important publications, the Faculty Yearbook and the UAM Legal Journal, aimed at promoting and informing about research efforts, which are a feature of the Law Faculty.

The AFDUAM is an annual legal-academic multidisciplinary publication, which was first published in 1997. It contains the presentations made at the yearly AFDUAM conferences about a featured topic, which is analysed from a multidisciplinary perspective. This same approach is adopted in the Professors’ Seminar, another AFDUAM initiative, which takes place in sessions throughout the academic year, in which especially interesting and topical legal and legal-political questions are addressed. The BOE (Official State Gazette) and the Colegio Nacional de Registradores de la Propiedad y Mercantiles de España (Spanish Association of Registrars) provide invaluable assistance to the AFDUAM in its work.

  • UAM Legal Journal (RJUAM)

The RJUAM was created in 1999 in order to foster scholarly debate amongst the Law Faculty’s academic community. Articles, lessons, case law commentaries, discussion forums and reviews of books, covering various areas of Law are published in it every semester. Additionally, it holds annual Conferences about current topics. The defining feature of the Journal is that its Editorial Board is made up of young Faculty teaching staff and postgraduate students.

Although applications may be made throughout the year, it is advisable to make the application at least one month before the proposed start date of the visit.

The Law Faculty is under no obligation to provide remuneration in respect of the visit, nor will it bear the research costs undertaken in the Faculty, nor travel costs, medical insurance, accommodation or maintenance costs, nor any other expense related to the stay.

If the researcher wishes to study undergraduate or postgraduate subjects during the research visit, he/she must pay the corresponding fees.
