Short bio:

Taru Haapala is Marie Curie Fellow (GA 713366 – InterTalentum) at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, affiliated with the Madrid Institute for Advanced Study (MIAS). She received her PhD in Political Science at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, where she also holds the title of Adjunct Professor (docent) specialising in Political Thought and Conceptual History. Previously, she was Senior Researcher in Political Science at the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy at the University of Jyväskylä in the Academy of Finland project Transformations of Concepts and Institutions in the European Polity (TRACE).  Dr. Haapala has held visiting fellowships at the European University Institute in Florence, the Queen Mary Centre for the Study of the History of Political Thought at the University of London and held the position of Visiting Professor in Erasmus+ Joint Masters Programme in Parliamentary Procedures and Legislative Drafting (EUPADRA) at the LUISS Guido Carli University, Rome. She is also a Working Group Leader in the COST Action Reappraising Intellectual Debates on Civic Rights and Democracy in Europe (RECAST), a member of the Executive Committee of Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Network OpenEUdebate: Matching politics with policy (OEuDeb; 2019-2021) and Treasurer of the Steering Committee of Standing Group ‘Political Concepts’ in European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR).
