Material resources and infrastructures

Two modern buildings house the UAM Law Faculty: the main building, which was opened in 1994 (Law Faculty Building), and the Legal, Political and Economic Sciences building, opened in 2004. Both are located on the UAM Cantoblanco campus.

The Law Faculty Library is the main tool for teaching staff and students. It provides the material and human resources necessary to keep study, teaching and research methods up to date.

The Library occupies a total area of 3,000 square metres, with four reading rooms and a capacity of 600 study spaces. It is open uninterruptedly from 09.00 - 20.30 on working days. A team of twenty eight librarians and interns serve their university community users with a high level of responsibility and dedication.

The Library contains over 184,250 books and around 3,000 journals (877 ongoing ones), with a further 5,000 new books acquired each year. The extensive collection has grown, not only due to the purchasing policy, but also by gifts or acquisitions of collections from distinguished individuals and institutions.

The Library keeps our Faculty’s Annual research Report up-to-date in Dialnet, thus showing its interest in the teaching and research community.

It also focuses on students through various services: free access to up-to-date collections of textbooks and basic bibliographies; subject guides that compile all resources grouped by areas of knowledge; and group study rooms, with facilities and opening hours which allow group work.

Study rooms
The Law Faculty provides two types of study rooms for our students, designed for group work:

Study rooms in the main building

There are four rooms situated on the 2nd floor of the Main Building, behind lecture theatre G-IV. Two of them have a capacity for eight people and the other two for ten people. These rooms can be reserved through the Law Faculty Information Office (2nd floor).

CRAI rooms (Learning and Research Resource Centre)

These study rooms are located inside the Faculty Library. Two of them are on the 1st floor of the Library. They can be reserved in person, at the reception desk of the Ground Floor of the Library.

There are lockers available in the Faculty for use by students which can be reserved, free of charge, for 15 day periods. They are located in the Law Faculty Building on the ground floor, next to lecture theatre G II.
