- Depicting new molecular mechanisms for cancer therapy resistance.

A recurring problem in therapies involving kinase inhibitors is the emergence of drug resistance mechanisms, resulting in a loss of efficacy over time. Given the recent emergence of a new generation of cell cycle cancer drugs, the need to identify new resistance mechanisms has increased substantially. We have already shown how osmotic stress can alter the response to chemotherapy (Monfort-Vengut et al., 2025), and we have interesting preliminary data that osmotic stress can also modify the response to specific cell cycle-targeted therapy.
This TFM project aims to validate and explore this preliminary data, by doing various methodological approaches in the field of molecular oncology and biomedical cancer research (e.g., cell cultures, antitumor treatments, microscopy, flow cytometry, etc).
