Instituto Universitario de Ciencias de la Educación (IUCE), the University Institute of Education Sciences, is the UAM centre for education research, education innovation and consultancy, and a provider of continual professional development for teachers and graduate taught.At lUCE, education is conceived as the drive for social change and our work is guided by a concern for helping reduce social inequities.

Education research at IUCE aims to provide evidence on the best practice that leads to achieve the educational goals being a top priority in the enhancement of present-day education. Across a range of knowledge domains and in every educational setting, we pursue to identify the processes involved in learning and to determine the teaching conditions under which the learning processes are encouraged.

Innovación

Innovation

Innovation at IUCE is targeted at providing new insights on current major educational challenges and, through a proactive analysis, at advancing innovative solutions to emerging problems in education. The ultimate purpose of our innovative action is to raise quality standards in education. Innovation at IUCE is grounded on knowledge-building scientific research and reaches a meeting point between research and the teaching practice.

Formación

Teacher training

Both the IUCE and its predecessor, the ICE, the UAM Institute of Education Sciences, count on a long-established tradition in teacher training.  From education research, evidence-informed design of teacher training courses remains a distinctive feature of IUCE’s teacher training delivering.  Also, programmes in professional development for teachers leave the door open for attendees to further engage in education research and innovation projects.
